THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE AND PARKS WILL SUBGRANT THE LWCF AWARD TO THE CITY OF DERBY TO CONSTRUCT A NEW PLAYSPACE OUTSIDE OF THE DERBY PUBLIC LIBRARY. THE PLAYSPACE WILL INCLUDE PICNIC CABANAS WITH TABLES, INTERACTIVE MUSIC LITERACY WITH LARGE INSTRUMENTS, PERFORMANCE AREA, PLAY AREA, AND AN INTERACTIVE WATER FEATURE WITH A SPLASH PAD. THE AREA HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO STIMULATE IMAGINATION THROUGH EDUCATION AND RECREATION. THE NEW PLAYSPACE WILL BE LOCATED ADJACENT TO TANGLEWOOD ELEMENTARY AND WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO NUMEROUS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS.
