The National Park Service awarded a $1,000,000 project grant to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism under the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program (CFDA 15.916). The grant will support improvements to existing campgrounds and construction of new cabins at Wilson State Park in Sylvan Grove, KS. Specifically, the grant funds will add electrical and water hookups to 24 campsites and develop 9 new pull-through campsites at two campgrounds. Additionally, the grant will construct three new cabins and perform necessary site work. These recreation infrastructure enhancements will provide both updated and additional camping opportunities throughout the summer season as well as year-round camping options. The sub-awardee, State of Kansas, will oversee delivery of these park and campground development services.
