ARIZONA STAT PARKS WILL SUBGRANT THE LWCF AWARD TO THE TOWN OF FOUNTAIN HILLS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW RESTROOM STORAGE AREA AT ONE OF ITS EXISTING PARKS. THE PARK HAS GONE THROUGH SOME RENOVATIONS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS AND THE USE OF THE PARK HAS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY. IT WAS ALSO EVIDENT DURING COVID HOW IMPORTANT THESE OUTDOOR RECREATION FACILITIES WERE FOR BOTH THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF THE PUBLIC. THE CURRENT PARK IS DIVIDED BY A WASH WITH A BRIDGE CONNECTING THE TWO PARCELS. THERE IS ONLY ONE RESTROOM FOR THE PUBLIC WHICH IS NOT ADEQUATE. THE NEW RESTROOM WILL BE ADA COMPLIANT AND GENDER NEUTRAL. THE FOUR PEAKS PARK RESTROOM PROJECT WAS RANKED VERY HIGH BASED ON THE NEED TO ADD A RESTROOM FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS. THE NEED FOR AN OPERATIONAL RESTROOM FACILITY THAT INCLUDED SINKS AND SOAP DISPENSERS TO HAVE AVAILABLE FOR HAND WASHING AND TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID 19 AND ANY FUTURE PANDEMICS AS CONVEYED BY THE AZ STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. THIS PROJECT WILL INCREASE SAFETY AT FOUR PEAKS PARK WITH THE ADDITION OF AN AED TO BE INSTALLED IN THE AREA OF THE NEW RESTROOM. THE ADDITION OF AN ADA RESTROOM WILL SERVE THIS HIGHLY USED PARK AND WAS CONSIDERED FOR ITS HEALTH AND SAFETY BENEFITS FOR THE PUBLIC.
