The Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation in Vermont received a $123,400 Project Grant from the Department of the Interior National Park Service under the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning (CFDA 15.916) program. The grant will enable the Vermont agency to create an inclusive statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) and develop a planning process action plan to guide future SCORP updates. The primary focus of the SCORP will be to conduct a comprehensive public input process, with a special emphasis on engaging historically underserved communities, to identify recreation opportunities and barriers. The information gained through this public engagement will inform the actionable priorities included in the final SCORP report. The planning process action plan will help ensure that future SCORP updates are timely, adaptable, and continue to equitably address the recreation needs of Vermonters. The project term is from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.
