The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will use a $416,011.84 Project Grant from the National Park Service under the CFDA Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program to renovate a public access site in Fraser, Michigan. As a sub-awardee, Fraser Township will improve the Linwood Scenic Access Point by constructing an accessible walking path, kayak launch and fishing platform, replacing a broken seawall section with a handrail, and adding accessible parking, picnic tables, spotting scopes, and bike racks. Native plantings and a rain garden will also be installed. These renovations aim to increase and improve access by providing the only no-fee public access to Saginaw Bay waters within 130 miles of shoreline, fulfilling a need first identified over 30 years ago. The project aims to benefit both local residents and numerous visitors to the scenic landmark.
