The Rio Hondo Community College District was awarded a $1,361,661 Project Grant from the Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education under the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) federal grant program.
The grant will support the Holistic and Comprehensive HOPE Scholars Program at Rio Hondo College in Pico Rivera, California. The program, which runs from December 31, 2021 through December 31, 2024, aims to provide direct services to housing insecure students in Los Angeles County. Specifically, the HOPE Scholars Program will address this population's needs through institutional reforms and innovative strategies to improve postsecondary instruction quality and expand educational opportunities, in line with FIPSE's goals of supporting such community project funding.
