About this award

The Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration awarded $8.7 million under the Federal Transit Formula Grants (CFDA 20.507) program to the Salem Area Mass Transit District. Funds will support operating assistance, preventive maintenance of vehicles, and ADA paratransit services from July 2020 through October 2022. Specifically, $2.9 million will cover operating assistance for local fixed-route services and eligible costs associated with preventive maintenance of SAMTD's fleet from July 2020 through September 2021. The remaining funds will provide ADA paratransit transportation through June 2022. This funding will help minimize disruption to SAMTD's services, continue vehicle maintenance, and allow for continuous ADA transportation operations that would otherwise be reduced due to lack of funding, benefiting riders in the Salem and Keizer, Oregon area.
