The Department of Housing and Urban Development Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development awarded Volunteers Of America Ohio & Indiana $347,892 on May 1, 2026, under the Continuum of Care Program (CFDA 14.267) to support permanent housing, rapid rehousing, and supportive services for homeless individuals and families in the Columbus, Ohio area. The award runs through April 30, 2027. The program funds eligible costs to establish and operate five program components: permanent housing including permanent supportive housing for persons with disabilities and rapid rehousing; transitional housing; supportive services only; Homeless Management Information Systems; and, in some cases, homelessness prevention. Permissible activities include planning costs, real property acquisition and rehabilitation, new construction, rental assistance, supportive services, operating costs, and fiscal control and accounting through a unified funding agency. The Continuum of Care Program is designed to promote community-wide commitment to ending homelessness while minimizing trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness, promoting access to mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families, and optimizing self-sufficiency.
