The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) was awarded a $12,500,000 federal Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration's Buses and Bus Facilities Formula, Competitive, and Low or No Emissions Programs (CFDA 20.526). The grant funds will be used to construct improvements for the BX6 Select Bus Service, including bus bulbs, high visibility crosswalks, boarding islands, and signal improvements. It will also fund the construction of a replacement roof for the St. George Ferry Terminal of the Staten Island Ferry. The expected outcomes are increased bus service speed, improved pedestrian safety, and a resilient ferry facility for the benefit of bus riders and ferry commuters in New York City. The award period runs from August 18, 2023 to January 21, 2031.
