The Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration awarded the New York Department of Transportation a $2,055,047 Project Grant under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (CFDA 20.513). The grant funding will support operating assistance for transportation services for people with disabilities and older adults in New York State through December 2025. NYSDOT will distribute grant funds to 32 subrecipients across New York's metropolitan, small urban, and non-urbanized areas. Subrecipients will use the funding to cover eligible operating expenses such as driver salaries, fuel, and other items to continue providing transportation services for the target populations. This will allow NYSDOT and subrecipients to maintain mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities amid ongoing impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
