NC- CONNECTING SV PREVENTION AND HEALTH EQUITY. NCCASA WILL CONDUCT A PRIMARY PREVENTION CAPACITY ASSESSMENT OF THE COALITION'S READINESS TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT EQUITY-FOCUSED STRATEGIES. - HEALTH ACCESS AND INFORMATION SHOULD BE A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT FOR ALL. HOWEVER WE KNOW THAT IS NOT THE REALITY FOR MANY PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THE LONG TERM HEALTH NEEDS FOR SEXUAL VIOLENCE SURVIVORS ARE NOT ADEQUATELY ASSESSED, ADDRESSED OR FULLY RESEARCH, RESULTING IN SURVIVORS NOT RECEIVING CRITICAL SERVICES AND SUPPORT FROM THOSE WHO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE. THE LACK OF HEALTH ACCESS FOR SURVIVORS SPECIFICALLY THOSE FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES CREATES FURTHER INEQUITIES IN THEIR ONGOING HEALTH CARE NEEDS. THIS IS NOT UNIQUE TO SURVIVORS AND THE CONNECTION TO FORM OF OPPRESSION DIRECTLY IMPACT HEALTH INEQUITIES THROUGHOUT SOCIETY. THERE IS MUCH MORE TO BE DONE TO CREATE HEALTH EQUITY IN OUR COMMUNITIES AND THIS PROJECT WILL CONDUCT AN ASSESSMENT TO DETERMINE THOSE GAPS AND INFORM STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS THESE INEQUITIES IN NC. NCCASA WILL PARTNER WITH RESEARCH PARTNERS, COMMUNITY HEALTH PARTNERS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WHO ARE WORKING TO ADDRESS HEALTH EQUITY IN NC. TO ADDRESS THE CURRENT HEALTH INEQUITIES AND TO CREATE COMMUNITY BASED PROTECTIVE FACTORS WE MUST EXAMINE WHAT AND HOW THE COMMUNITIES MOST IMPACTED ARE ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN ADDRESSING THE OUTCOMES IDENTIFIED THROUGH THE ASSESSMENT. WHEN FUNDED THIS PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO CREATE STRATEGIES AND INTERVENTIONS TO ENHANCE ACCESS TO EQUITABLE HEALTH OUTCOMES.
