The Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration awarded New Jersey Transit Corporation $171.9 million under the State of Good Repair Grants Program (CFDA 20.525) on September 3, 2021 to complete by February 7, 2022. The funds will support preventive maintenance activities for NJ Transit's rail assets from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. Specifically, NJ Transit will conduct preventive maintenance of its revenue and non-revenue fleets as well as facilities to ensure reliable performance and maximize useful life. The award will assist NJ Transit's statewide transportation program in maintaining assets in a state of good repair and is intended to benefit residents of New Jersey and the general public utilizing NJ Transit's public transportation system throughout New Jersey, New York City, and surrounding states and metropolitan areas. There are no subrecipients involved.
