Description

Project objectives: the objective of this project is to validate the accuracy of dried blood spot (DBS) cards as an easy, inexpensive, and safe tool for the collection and archiving of whole blood from stranded and free-ranging marine mammals. The value of having archived DBS card samples far outweigh the lack of samples that could help greatly benefit veterinarians, researchers, and wildlife managers to better assess the short-term and long-term health status of marine mammals around the world.
