Description
Seacamp is located at the south end of big pine key, and due to our unique location and services we believe that we can provide a valuable experience for students to learn about the ecological importance of watersheds from the bottom up. Sea camp proposes to provide a program to over 300 5TH graders from hendry county, FL that teaches students how human action impacts the abiotic and biotic factors of watersheds through an index of biotic integrity (IBI) project that is modified for 5TH grade science standards. Hendry county elementary schools are all title 1 schools, meaning that at least 40% of each school's student population comes from low income families. Seacamp is reaching out to these schools to have students experience a program for three days and two nights that will immerse them in some of the most diverse habitats in the world. Over the course of the 12-month project
