About this award

Written by GovTribe AI ·

The International Fund For Animal Welfare Inc. (IFAW) received a $129,186 Project Grant award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Marine Mammal Data Program (MMDP) to expand large whale medical intervention and research capacity. The two-year award, issued on September 1, 2021 and concluding on August 31, 2023, will support IFAW's efforts to enhance response capabilities for entangled, injured, and distressed large whales through field operations and applied research in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. The MMDP aims to support state agencies in collecting and analyzing information on marine mammals within state waters that interact with state-managed fisheries and other marine resources. This award will advance those goals through IFAW's work providing direct intervention and gathering health data on large whale populations in the region.
