About this award

Written by GovTribe AI ·

The Mystic Aquarium received a $121,467 project grant award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration under the Marine Mammal Data Program to provide operational support for its animal rescue program and train state agencies and volunteers in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. The grant period runs from September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022.

Under this award, the Mystic Aquarium - operating through its sub-awardee, the Sea Research Foundation - will enhance and support marine mammal response efforts and data collection activities in the tri-state region. Specifically, the Aquarium will provide operational capacity for its animal rescue operations and train staff at state wildlife agencies and local volunteers to improve marine mammal response and standardize data collection practices. This supports the broader federal program goal of collecting and analyzing information on marine mammals that interact with state-managed fisheries and marine resources.
