About this award
The Pueblo of Pojoaque will receive $152,526 under a two-year Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Native American/Native Hawaiian Museum Services program to redesign storage space and conduct collections work for the Pojoaque Cultural Center's holdings of works by Tewa artists. Staff will reorganize collections storage, hire interns and consultants to inventory over 1,500 objects in a content management system, and complete condition reports for both on- and off-site works. This will improve collections care, storage, and allow increased access to the works by Tewa community members, artists, and scholars for exhibition planning and research. The grant activities will help the Cultural Center better preserve and promote the artistic heritage of the Tewa people.
Description
The center will hire interns from the institute of american indian arts, a collections registrar, and consultants to conduct an inventory and input information into a content management system. Staff will complete detailed condition reports for objects both on and off-site. The improvements will result in more effective collections care and exhibition planning, while tewa community members as well as artists and scholars will have increased access to the collections.
