About this award

The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience received a $598,916 Project Grant award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Museums for America (CFDA 45.301) grant program. The two-year grant supports the museum's partnership with community organizations and a neighborhood advisory committee to provide arts and cultural programs focused on health and well-being for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities, as well as the general public and youth audiences. Key activities include summer arts and music festival events, two year-long artist residencies to support 20 community clinic-based cultural programs, and an arts training program pairing paid interns with professional artists to work with youth participants on an art installation project. As a result, the project aims to better connect community members with opportunities to develop cultural knowledge, competence, and healing.
