About this award
The Museum of Boulder, in partnership with the Boulder Public Library and Boulder County NAACP Chapter, will receive $500,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the Museums for America federal grant program (CFDA 45.301) to develop activities highlighting the history of Black people in Colorado from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024. Over the three-year period of performance in Boulder, CO, the Museum of Boulder will employ a community-centered process to develop an exhibit and educational curricula addressing the lack of Black histories represented in Colorado. Funded activities will include collecting original oral histories and research, consolidating research data and making it publicly available online, and hosting a series of programs about race. This aims to provide Coloradans a more inclusive understanding of the state's history by illuminating the stories of Black Coloradans and ultimately serve as a basis for community dialogue and action.
