The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) was awarded $2,999,250 under the Low or No Emission Vehicle Program (CFDA 20.526) administered by the Federal Transit Administration to purchase electric buses and charging infrastructure for the Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority. Specifically, the funding will support the acquisition of two 40-foot electric buses, one 35-foot electric bus, one 30-foot electric bus, and three inductive charging pads to be installed on the buses. MassDOT had previously received $1,488,250 under the program in Fiscal Years 2019-2020 for similar electric bus procurement and charging infrastructure projects. The total award of $2,999,250 was provided on August 10, 2021 to support the transition to zero-emission public transportation on Martha's Vineyard through the replacement of diesel buses with electric models.
