The National Cancer Institute awarded Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research $153,330 on August 1, 2026, under the Cancer Research Manpower program (CFDA 93.398) to develop a radiotheranostic platform targeting androgen receptor in prostate cancer.
The funded work develops non-steroidal androgen receptor agonists for DNA-targeted Auger electron therapy to address treatment-resistant prostate cancer. The project combines disease monitoring and targeted cytotoxic agent delivery using diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals. In vivo evaluation uses androgen-dependent (LNCaP) and androgen-independent (LNCaP-ABL) human xenograft models in athymic male nude mice to assess target-specific uptake, clearance, and therapeutic efficacy of the proposed radiotheranostic agents. The animal models enable evaluation of endogenous androgen production from the adrenal glands and testis in contexts that cannot be substantively explored in vitro.
Performance takes place in New York, New York, with a period of performance from August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2028.
