The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) received a $1,555,700 Project Grant award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program. The primary objective of this 5-year grant is to sustain and improve the Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Region, which provides training and technical assistance services to professionals, pre-professionals, organizations, and other stakeholders in the substance use disorder (SUD) field across Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska.
UMKC will collaborate directly with SAMHSA and engage with the ATTC Network to enhance the implementation and delivery of effective SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery services. This includes initiatives aimed at elevating the competency level of the SUD workforce and increasing the number of individuals trained in SUD science practices. Additionally, UMKC has provided a $136,839 sub-award to the University of Tennessee Medical Center to support project management, regional/national engagement, and strategic leadership for the Mid-America ATTC initiatives.
