The Loudoun Serenity House (LSH) was awarded a $900,000 Project Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program. The grant, with a performance period from September 30, 2024 to September 29, 2027, will enable LSH to expand its peer-based recovery services for individuals in Loudoun County, Virginia seeking recovery from substance use disorders, opioid use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Specifically, LSH will provide direct peer recovery support services (PRSS) through certified peer recovery specialists, link participants to recovery support services (RSS) in the community, train peer recovery specialist interns, and expand its network of recovery providers. The goal is to increase the recovery tenure of 50 individual participants per year, reduce stigma, and grow the peer workforce in Loudoun County.
