This Project Grant award, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program, will provide $396,525 over 5 years to the Unified Court System of New York State to enhance the Misdemeanor Brooklyn Treatment Court (MBTC) and Screening and Treatment Enhancement Part (STEP) programs in Kings County, New York. The funding will be used to increase access and availability of services to 200 adult male and female offenders with substance use disorders who are eligible for the MBTC and STEP programs. Key services will include substance use disorder treatment, integrated mental health treatment for co-occurring disorders, health home care coordination, comprehensive case management, employment services, and peer mentoring. This initiative aims to better engage and retain participants in the treatment court programs to address substance abuse and associated social challenges through innovative judicial interventions.
