This project will address polysubstance misuse, which led to 64% of all overdose deaths in New Mexico in 2023, by implementing evidence-based indicated prevention programs and harm reduction strategies in four high-overdose counties: Bernalillo, Santa Fe, San Juan, and Rio Arriba. The initiative will focus on reducing overdoses from the concurrent use of opioids, including prescription, fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine, as well as alcohol, cocaine, and benzodiazepines, among adults aged 25-64 and youth aged 14-24 who are homeless or housing-unstable. This five-year project will commence on September 30, 2025.
