The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, doing business as the Turtle Mountain Tribe, received a $119,999 Project Grant award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Block Grants for Community Mental Health Services (CFDA 93.958) program. The funding will support the Turtle Mountain Native Connections program, which aims to decrease high rates of substance misuse and suicide among the Tribe's youth population through community-based prevention and intervention measures. The grant will enable the Turtle Mountain Outreach (TMO) program to conduct needs assessments, provide suicide prevention and mental health training for community members and providers, and expand access to local, culturally-competent behavioral health services. The award period runs from September 30, 2024 to September 29, 2029.
