PROJECT PEP (PRE-EMPLOYMENT PARTNERSHIPS) – AWARD SUMMARY
Drexel University received a $208,662.98 Project Grant from the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services under the Rehabilitation Long-Term Training program (CFDA 84.129) effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The award supports academic training initiatives designed to address personnel shortages in vocational rehabilitation services and increase the number of qualified professionals serving individuals with disabilities. As required under the program, a minimum of 65 percent of project funds must be directed toward scholarships covering student stipends, tuition, fees, books, supplies, and travel for program participants.
The project delivers personnel development and academic training services aligned with the state-federal vocational rehabilitation system's workforce needs. Drexel's role as a major research institution and higher education provider positions it to train rehabilitation counselors, assistants, and related specialists who will support individuals with disabilities through vocational rehabilitation services. The award represents one of 75 grants made nationally in fiscal year 2025 under this program, with typical award amounts ranging from $194,000 to $391,000, reflecting the Department of Education's commitment to building capacity in the rehabilitation services workforce.
