The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded a $250,000 Project Grant to Good Samaritan Shelter Inc. on August 20, 2021 under the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (VA GPD Program; CFDA 64.024). The funding will support Good Samaritan Shelter's efforts to reduce congregate living and create individual living units for homeless Veterans in California.
The VA GPD Program aims to develop and promote the availability of transitional housing and supportive services for homeless Veterans. This particular award will allow Good Samaritan Shelter to enhance its facilities and better serve Veterans by transitioning from congregate housing models to individual units, in alignment with the program's goals of helping Veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and/or income, and obtain greater self-determination.
