Description

Our key focus is assessing known occurrences, particularly on the snake river plain and owyhee plateau, where we have not been able to relocate slickspot peppergrass in recent years. Because the annual biennial forb does not emerge every year, multiple years of observation during the flowering window may be needed to determine if the plant is extant at each occurrence. In addition, we will survey promising sites, such as property newly acquired by idaho department of fish and game near boise. At each site, we will document our search routes, any peppergrass located, associated species, site characteristics, and condition. Information on where the plant occurs is fundamental to conservation management for the species, and the data we collect is especially valuable for USFWS and bureau of land management. As in the past, we will continue to work cooperatively with USFWS and others in technical team activities, recovery planning, data analyses, and related efforts.
