Description

As a result, the university of idaho, idaho department of fish and game, and other partners are identifying occupancy rate and dynamics by conducting detection non-detection surveys throughout suitable pygmy rabbit habitat in idaho. Surveys are labor intensive and dependent on snow. Section 6 funds will be used to help complete surveys in areas with challenging terrain that were not surveyed previously. Biologists believe that trying to complete additional surveys in suitable habitat will provide adequate data to inform the future status assessment. Surveyors will follow the same protocol as the previous two winters (winter 2023-2024 and 2024-2025). Funding will also be used to support the PHD student (principal investigator) at the university of idaho, mainly covering summer housing rental and data analysis.
