About this award
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) received a $536,000 project grant award from the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 8 under the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund program (CFDA 15.615). The funding will support CDFW's work to amend the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservation Plan and Natural Community Conservation Plan permits to better align with development pace and ensure the preserve system endowment is fully funded by an extended permit term ending date. Specifically, the grant will aid the East Contra Costa County Habitat Conservancy in evaluating progress made toward conservation goals and the funding required to achieve them given development has occurred at a slower rate than originally anticipated. This project is necessary to support extending the permit term to match revised development projections and secure full funding of the endowment.
Description
California department of fish and wildlife (cdfw) is requesting funding to support the east contra costa county(eccc) habitat conservancy s (habitat conservancy) work that is required to apply for an extension of the permitterm for both the east contra costa county habitat conservation plan (HCP) (permit number TE160958 0) and naturalcommunity conservation plan (nccp) (permit number 2835 2007 001 03). The east contra costa county HCP nccp (plan)is in year 15 the halfway mark of the existing permits and has evaluated the pace of development, conservationactions, and funding streams. This review has determined that development in east contra costa county has notoccurred at the pace anticipated in the plan therefore, development fees are not accruing at the rate necessaryto fully fund the plan s endowment by the end of the 30 year permit term (permit term). Cdfw is applying forfederal grant funds to support the habitat conservancy s project to amend the plan permit term to better matchthe pace of development and ensure that the preserve system endowment is fully funded by the end of the extendedpermit term.
