About this award
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will receive $344,577 under a three-year Project Grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service Region 3. The grant is funded through the State Wildlife Grants program (CFDA 15.634), which provides funding to state fish and wildlife agencies to implement strategic conservation programs.
From 2022 to 2025, the Department will improve over 1,450 additional acres of public and private lands in Minnesota and Wisconsin to benefit species of greatest conservation need associated with the prairie-savanna oak woodland landscape of the Driftless Area. Since 2009, the Department has demonstrated through surveys and monitoring that targeted species and other species of concern have increased their presence on numerous sites improved through previous State Wildlife Grants funding. This continuation project will further the Department's efforts to enhance habitat for at-risk pollinators, herpetofauna, birds and other species through land management activities.
Description
We have demonstrated through surveys and monitoring that target and other sgcn presence has increased on many sites. This project seeks to continue our efforts to improve public and private land to benefit sgcn pollinators, herps, birds and other species associated with the prairie-savanna oakwoodland continuum of the driftless area (DA).
