Description

As the agency reported it.

Indigenous smallholder farmers in rural cuisnahuat and nahuizalco, EL salvador, struggle to feed their families and sell their agricultural products in a region without basic services, troubled by violence, and battered by extreme weather patterns. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to improve food security, expand economic opportunity and promote sustainable agriculture. Our grantee partner, asociación EL bálsamo (EL bálsamo), works with producer cooperatives to provide management and microenterprise training, support farmers' efforts to market and sell their crops, and teach schoolchildren and youth organic gardening techniques that they can apply to their family farms. This grant is part of the IAF's efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration in central america.
