Homeland security grant program

This $71,900,797 federal Project Grant award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Homeland Security Grant Program (CFDA 97.067) supports a comprehensive approach to homeland security preparedness across the state of Illinois. The grant funding enables the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA) to implement a wide range of activities, including enhancing cybersecurity capabilities, upgrading emergency operations centers, supporting law enforcement training, protecting critical infrastructure, and providing specialized equipment for emergency response.

Through a series of sub-awards, IEMA is partnering with entities such as the Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology, Western Illinois University, and Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System to deliver these homeland security preparedness initiatives. Key activities include cybersecurity enhancements, forensic science capacity building, emergency planning and training, port security upgrades, and specialized equipment procurement to strengthen the state's overall preparedness and response capabilities.
