The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration awarded a $3.675 million project grant to the Kentucky Department for Local Government to support development and implementation of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for 16 Area Development Districts in Kentucky. Funded under the Economic Development Support for Planning Organizations program (CFDA 11.302), the grant will facilitate a collaborative CEDS process through June 2023 to diversify and strengthen the regional economy across Barren River, Big Sandy, Bluegrass, Buffalo Trace, Cumberland Valley, Fivco, Gateway, Green River, Kentucky River, Kipda, Lake Cumberland, Lincoln Trail, Northern Kentucky, Pennyrile, and Purchase counties. By bringing together public and private stakeholders, the CEDS roadmap aims to stimulate and guide regional economic development efforts in line with EDA's Planning program objectives.
