The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) received a $470,000 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science to fund research activities under the Office of Science Financial Assistance Program (CFDA 81.049) from August 1, 2021 through July 31, 2023.
Specifically, the grant funding will support Caltech's work to enhance the durability of photoelectrodes for solar fuel production through fundamental science. As the Nation's largest federal supporter of basic research in the physical sciences, the Office of Science's mission is to deliver scientific discoveries and tools to transform understanding of nature and advance U.S. energy security and economic competitiveness. This particular award aligns with those goals by supporting research that could lead to more efficient solar fuel technologies. All work will be conducted at Caltech's Pasadena, California facility.
