Description
Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - construction - this project will establish telemedicine suites at the village of rosebush manor in rosebush and lynn street manor in onaway, michigan to increase older adults' access to medical professionals in health professional shortage areas of michigan. The new suites will be utilized by seniors who reside at PVM's facilities as well as members of the communities in isabella and presque isle counties. Without the telemedicine suites, older adults would be forced to travel significant distances to access necessary medical care and risk exposure to a new illness in the doctor's waiting room. This funding makes doctor visits feasible for patients who may forgo seeing a medical professional because of the challenge in getting to a doctor's office. Telemedicine suites will provide ongoing access to medical care in a safe and secure environment that protects patient privacy. The telemedicine suites significantly increase access to medical professionals and specialists who are in high demand and rarely located in rural communities (many over three hours away
