Description

Community project funding/congressionally directed spending - construction - BHC known as barton hose company no 1 INC nestled in western maryland known as barton, we have estimated 450 residents and once rich in coal heritage our department is an all volunteer department responsible for fire response, mental health response, opioid response, mental health response, hazardous materials response, swift water rescue, wilderness rescue, wildland fires responses & emergency health related calls, encompassed 32 square miles. Our dedicated volunteers also provide a part time fire and life safety prevention program. Currently we operate out a of single station that was constructed in 1947, and has had several updates and remolding efforts over the years. We maintain a 1998 front line engine, 2000 second line engine, 2017 ford mini pumper (grant funded) 2018 ford brush truck (grant funded) 2011 mercury 13FT boat (swift water boat). Our department is seeking funding to construct, design, reconstruction, site preparation of the BHC via adding addition garage space, offices, storage rooms and training room. Having the ability to have all equipment in a centralized location to be able to provide a quick response to our citizens. Refurbishing the engine will save the department and tax payers over $800,000.00 for the purchase of a new fire engine, a cost that our department will never be able to afford to replace, as the cost to purchase a new fire truck would be nearly one million dollars. IT's imperative our organization is provided this funding to protect our volunteers and better serve our community.
