Description
The city received your email announcing this funding source and i wanted to give to you a couple of emergency services projects we are in dire need of funding for. The first of these is an adequate snow removal vehicle to be used by the elgin ambulance agency and elgin rural fire department. Currently, an ATV with a small plow is utilized to clear snow from in front of the hall. This is not only time consuming, but highly impractical. Recently, we had an emergency that required an ambulance call out and the staff spent no less than two hours clearing snow from a storm that had the entire area shut down. Thankfully, IT was not a life-threatening call out. This was a very clear indicator however that we need better equipment. With funds associated in this spending package, we are hoping to purchase a new plow truck that would allow crews to not only remove the snow in under 15 minutes, but also apply gravel and sand for traction. This could mean the difference between life and death. The city of elgin also recently purchased a new ambulance. Due to the age of the old vehicle and new state of oregon regulations however, we were unable to retro-fit any of the lift assist and COTS to the new vehicle as originally planned and quoted. This left US with a $60,000 unanticipated equipment purchase. Funding from this package would also assist with the purchase of this vital equipment.
