The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) was awarded a $30,705,486 project grant from the Federal Transit Administration's State of Good Repair Grants Program (CFDA 20.525) on September 10, 2021 to complete multiple state of good repair projects through October 4, 2027. The grant provides $24,564,389 in Section 5337 formula funds to address infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement needs, including $13,120,000 for bridge and structure repairs in fiscal years 2022 and 2023; $2,720,000 to upgrade an interlocking system; $7,640,000 to replace a traction power substation; $8,592,389 for rail replacement and rehabilitation; $4,140,000 to assess and replace a signal and SCADA system; and $160,000 for steam rack improvements. The projects are included in VTA's Transit Asset Management Plan and will benefit transit riders throughout Santa Clara County.
