The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a $212,852 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program project grant to Good Samaritan Shelter, a non-profit organization based in Santa Maria, California. The award, effective September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025, will support the shelter's comprehensive services to address homelessness, including permanent housing, transitional housing, supportive services, homeless management information systems (HMIS), and homelessness prevention. The CoC Program provides funding to nonprofit providers, state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma of homelessness and promoting self-sufficiency. Good Samaritan Shelter has a history of securing federal grants, including from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program, to deliver critical housing assistance and support services to vulnerable populations in the community.
