The University of Kentucky Research Foundation received a $7,548,058 Project Grant award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Construction Support program (CFDA 93.352) to expand the university's Enterprise Data Center (EDC). The goal of this 4-year project, which runs from September 2024 to August 2028, is to significantly enhance the EDC's secure, HIPAA-compliant data infrastructure capacity to support the growing biomedical research needs of the university's NIH-funded researchers. This includes expanding the data center's physical space from 352 sq. ft. to 1,155 sq. ft., upgrading electrical and cooling infrastructure, and installing 28 additional high-performance computing racks. The expanded EDC will enable the university to accommodate exponential growth in data-intensive biomedical and population health research, including work at prominent NIH-supported centers such as the Markey Cancer Center and Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
