The University of Kentucky Research Foundation was awarded a $101,846 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation to acquire the Kentucky Research Informatics Composable Cloud (KYRICC). Under the NSF's Computer and Information Science and Engineering program, this award will support the development of a dynamically composable computing infrastructure to enable complex data analysis across heterogeneous hardware environments.

Specifically, the KYRICC architecture will integrate four subsystems to allow dynamic composition of cloud resources. This includes peripheral-composable compute nodes capable of supporting large GPU and memory configurations for deep learning and dataset training. A high-speed NVMe-based storage cluster will efficiently serve large data volumes to multi-GPU nodes. Additional petabyte-scale storage will be provided through the University of Kentucky's existing research infrastructure. An innovative workload management system will enable infrastructure composition and support common pipelines through templated projects. The KYRICC resources will be made available to regional and national researchers through access projects.
