This Project Grant award of $190,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Promotion of the Humanities Professional Development program (CFDA 45.163) supports the "CINCINNATI SOUNDS: EXPLORING A MUSICAL CITY'S SPACES, PLACES AND SOUNDS" project. The project will triangulate multiple perspectives through multidisciplinary scholarship, sound mapping, site visits, and applications to humanities research and teaching. Key project activities include workshops with discussions of reading and listening materials, instruction on storytelling and sound mapping, a keynote address, and presentations from local university faculty, arts leaders, authors, historians, librarians, and a photojournalist. The project will also feature visits to historic and modern landmarks in Cincinnati defined by curated and oft-forgotten music and sound. This educational initiative aims to enhance humanities teaching and research by providing immersive professional development experiences for educators across higher education and K-12 settings.
