This $177,324 Project Grant award from the National Endowment for the Humanities' Promotion of the Humanities Professional Development program (CFDA 45.163) will support the National Blues Museum in St. Louis, Missouri to conduct two six-day experiential learning workshops for K-12 educators in July 2024. The workshops, titled "The St. Louis Blues: Music, Migration, and the Movement," will examine the dynamic historical connections between music, urban environments, and race relations in St. Louis. By using the city's musical heritage and physical landscape as a framework, the workshops aim to help educators develop inclusive curricula around U.S. history and culture. This grant will enable the museum to leverage its expertise and collections to provide professional development opportunities that strengthen humanities education.
