The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition, will produce the temporary exhibition "Bears Ears: Living Land" through a $100,000 Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' National Leadership Grants program. The exhibition, co-curated by representatives from the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, Pueblo of Zuni, Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, and Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, will explore the cultural and historical significance of the Bears Ears region from the perspectives of these tribes. It aims to foster understanding of intangible cultural heritage and support recovery from COVID-19 impacts in local Native communities. The grant period is November 1, 2021 through October 31, 2022.
