The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded a $470,000 Project Grant under the Appalachian Area Development program (CFDA 23.002) to 'Round The Mountain: Southwest Virginia's Artisan Network. The grant funding will support comprehensive economic and community development initiatives across the Appalachian region, with a focus on strengthening the regional economy through investments in critical infrastructure, entrepreneurial development, workforce training, and community capacity building. The grant period runs from November 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. The project aims to help the regional economy become more competitive by putting in place the building blocks for self-sustaining economic development, while continuing to provide special assistance to the region's most distressed counties and areas.
