The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) was awarded a $426,354 Project Grant by the Appalachian Regional Commission (CFDA 23.002 - Appalachian Area Development) on October 1, 2023. This grant will fund state-level administrative activities and support DCED's role as a critical conduit for channeling federal resources into community and economic development efforts across Pennsylvania. As the primary agency delivering such services in the state, DCED leverages federal grants, including programs like the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership, to support affordable housing, community revitalization, small business assistance, workforce development, and infrastructure improvements in partnership with local municipalities, non-profits, and other organizations. This award will enable DCED to continue serving as a vital link between federal funding and on-the-ground implementation of initiatives that strengthen the regional economy and build community capacity throughout the Appalachian region of Pennsylvania.
