The National Urban League, Inc. (NUL) was awarded a $9 million Project Grant from the Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration under the Registered Apprenticeship program (CFDA 17.285). Over a four-year period through June 2026, NUL will connect 500 pre-apprentices from underrepresented populations in five major metropolitan areas to high-paying careers in the clean energy industry through registered apprenticeship programs.
Specifically, NUL and its affiliates will provide recruitment, assessments, screening, enrollment, career readiness training, soft skills training, and support services to pre-apprentices. They will also liaise with partners to facilitate the placement of 245 individuals into registered apprenticeships over the period of performance, with the goal of 172 individuals completing registered apprenticeships. The intended beneficiaries are low-to-middle income communities of color. If successful, this program will help diversify the clean energy sector workforce through established apprenticeship pathways.
