Description

Description
The purpose of this american rescue plan funded cooperative agreement is to provide funding under section 103 of the clean air act to live healthy little havana INC to provide public education and technical assistance to prevent indoor air pollution and promote energy efficiency in affordable housing units vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change. The recipient intends to issue subaward agreements to its partners in compliance with appendix a of EPA's subaward policy. The sub-awardees will provide in depth training to community liaisons, development of knowledge assessments, development of marketing materials, and lead climate resilient affordable housing conversations. Please note that CAA 103(b)(3): people with moderate-to-severe or uncontrolled asthma are more likely to be hospitalized from covid-19. Air pollution may contribute to asthma. By addressing air pollution in CAA 103(b)(3) projects, the chances of severe illness from covid-19 are reduced. Activities: project activities include development of neighborhood specific trainings; training of community liaisons on disaster preparedness, climate resiliency, and a connection between energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions; community engagement; and monitoring of businesses and landlords who implement relevant climate resilient strategies. Outcomes: expected outcomes of this project are an increase in climate resilient affordable housing practices, increase in climate ready businesses and properties, increase in local stakeholder commitment, and a minimization of displacement of little havana residents due to disaster or climate change related sources of indoor air pollution such as mold. Direct beneficiaries of this project are residents of the little havana neighborhood, which is primarily composed of low-income families who are impacted by poor indoor air quality. Subrecipient:
